Western Arthurs Traverse

Horm. Jono and myself set out for a 12 day full-traverse of the Western Arthurs. We hit Lake Oberon and spent three nights waiting out the weather in order to safetly attack the following days toward High Moor campsite. The weather didn't let up so we had to walk out, totalling 6 days. The most spectacular place I have been in Tasmania, without a doubt.

At the edge of Lake Pedder, with a phenomenal view of the full range.

Heading over the Arthur Plains on the Port Davey track.

Mt Anne in the distance.

Where the Port Davey splits before the Western Arthurs. 4 days from here to Melaleuca.

The epic three-hour climb up Epsilon Moraine took its toll on us. The views were worth it.

Craggy peaks and heavy clouding dominated the horizon all the way along.

Having a peek over the Northern face.

Mt Hersperus (?)

Lake Cygnus, where we spent the second night on the range.

Rattus the Rat

Surveying the area.

Some more phenomenal rock formations...

Looking back towards Lake Pedder on Day 3.

Square Lake

Colossal giants

The scramble down to Lake Oberon was a bit hairy

Where we spent 3 nights...in the rain and with very little visibility. Luckily we found some board camp platforms 100 metres on the east face of the area.
