Coromandel Ranges

The second tramp in New Zealand was a custom walk we created through the Coromomandel Ranges. We started at Te Puku (just north of Thames) on the western side of the peninsula and ended at Coroglen Pub on the eastern side. A nice dark ale and some sun was a perfect way to finish the 3 day adventure.

Tempting...

A giant, native Kauri tree. About 800 years old.

Crosbies Hut, 8 bunks, looks like something out of an architectural magazine. Very comfy.

The Pinnacles formed when volcanoes dissipated over the course of millions of years. The resulting landscape is the magma which hardened within those old volcanoes.

Pinnacles Hut, largest in NZ with 80 bunks. I'd advise avoiding at all times, unless 60 screaming kids is your idea of fun. We managed to be the only three there that night.

Coromandel Pub. Good times.
